PC stuck in boot loop

Hi all,

I've been having an issue with my desktop where it gets stuck in boot loop. I press the power button, lights turn on, cpu fan and gpu fan start to spin up but 1-2 seconds later it shuts down and tries to boot up again. This just started happening recently and I've ran everything fine for about 6 months.

I tried a different motherboard, replaced the PSU, took one stick of RAM out, only had one SSD connected but for the life of me I can't figure it out.

Any thoughts?

Specs:
Case: Corsair Obsidian 250D
MB: Asus H97I-Plus 1150 Mini-ITX
CPU: Intel I7-4790K
RAM: G.Skill 16GB (8x2) DDR3 1333 - only have one stick in, though
GFX: MSI GeForce GTX980TI Gaming 6G LE
HDDs: Two Intel SSDs

Just to add, there's a solid red LED that comes on during the boot loop.

See if it will run out of the case.

What is the PSU model?

ETA: Lookup what the red LED means.

yup I agree! take everything out of the case and test just the bare min, board, chip, ram, psu

Honestly, if I build a system, I build the entire thing on the mobo box, one piece at a time. Mobo, cpu, ram, SSD, install the OS. Then add one thing at a time. Of course, I guess now days you don't need anything besides those parts.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I looked up the red LED and it's the DRAM_LED. I took everything out of the case, put it back one by one and was able to find the culprit.

I had two RAM sticks and I put in the bad module instead of the good one. So far so good - PC goes to sleep and wakes up fine even after being off for some time.

Thanks again.
