PC stuck in a split second boot loop

Hi All,

I really hope someone can help with this as I really need my PC working again!

Basically, I was installing some PCI/PCI-E cards tonight to support some new hard drives I was planning to bring online. After plugging in all the HDD's and PCI/PCI-E cards I powered on the PC but it wouldn't boot.

I know the motherboard has power because the power LED's are constantly on and when I push the power button, the CPU and case fans spin up for about half a second then stop.
After a few seconds, the CPU and case fans spin up for about half a second and then stop again. This continues in an endless loop.

I've removed all the PCI/PCI-E cards that I'd installed and removed all the HDD's (including all the ones that were in there prior to me adding the new ones) but I still have the same problem. I've also removed all the other expansion cards, devices as well but I'm still having the same issue

Prior to this my PC was working as normal, no issues whatsoever.

Can anyone suggest possible causes of this?

If you need any more background info or otherwise, just ask!

Thanks in advance!

first of all
STOP PANINICKING:>)
and
STOP REMOVING THIS AND THAT!
Bring the system aback to what you had before all this started
Now
carefully chaeck you didn't bump a wire or what loose
Ya might try reseting your bios back to default
Sounds like ya hosed a DDL or the registry
Try google endless loop on boot up
tons a fun
Let us know how you make out

Sounds like a mobo issue rather than a PSU problem. Try clearing the CMOS and see if that gets you anywhere.

Thanks guys,

@ Opus
This isn't an OS issue as the system won't POST, it's a hardware issue or something may be shorting the mobo.
I did check all the wires, fans, etc and they were all connected properly.

@ Zero82z
Cheers, I'll give this a try tonight. I did read in some other posts that this might work.

I googled all last night and will try some other suggestions.
If anyone has any other suggestions, by all means fire away! :)

Cheers

long shot, but check to make sure the power/reset/etc switches aren't jammed in under the buttons

Cheers talley,

I don't think so but I'll reseat them tonight to be sure - nice one.

What MB? I had a Gigabyte MB that started going into a rolling reboot when the CMOS hosed itself. Sometimes clearing the CMOS, taking all the add in cards out, and the memory and rebooting will clear the problem. It's best to have a speaker hooked up to the board so can hear if there are any error beeps. No beeps and the MB has to go back to the distributor. (This is what I had to do with my Giga board.)

It's an Asus Maximus Formula. I'll try doing that tonight to see if that helps isolate the problem.

Thanks for the idea, blivit4 :)
