PC stuck at BIOS splash screen

I'm going to post this thread here also since I think it will gain some more posts if it's here than at the "Nvidia Flovour" subforum. Moderators are free to relocate / lock or remove this thread if they feel it's necessary or spam.

Also I couldn't figure out how to change the thread title so I'll fix it here.

Hello Forum members!

So, I have a problem regarding my new GTX Titan Black.

Earlier I had to RMA my 2x GTX 580's and it turns out that one of them was indeed broken somehow. Well, I got compensated for it and tought I'd get myself a Titan.

Now yesterday I tried installing the card and booted up the PC. For some reason that I can't figure out it get's stuck in the BIOS splash screen for about 2 minutes and after that the screen goes black with an underscore on the top left corner of the monitor. It also flashes between slight grey and black while it's in this state.

My system specs:

PSU - Silverstone 1200W Strider
GPU - (Current) GTX 580 TGT
CPU - Intel Core i7 2700K
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz 16Gb
Storage - Corsair 60 GB ssd
MoBo - Asus Sabertooth p67 REV 3
Sound Card - Asus STX Xonar Essence

Here's the fun part. I looked around for a solution and someone said to flash the BIOS to a newer verison. Problem is that my BIOS is already up to date. Currently I have the 3602 version which I updated some time ago.

I have also verified that the problem isn't caused by anything other than the GPU.

The PC booted up normally with a 260GTX and a 580GTX card but as soon as I fire up the Titan it get's stuck in the splash screen and then the blinking black screen. I have no idea of what to try next since my BIOS is already up to date.

Any help / advice is welcome!

Thank you for your reply in advance - Chrysalis

PS: If you need further information about my system or anything else that is relevant to the case, just ask and I'll do my best to reply as quickly as I can.

PPS: Here's the Titan I got if that's any help at all -> http://www.jimms.fi/tuote/NTITAN-BLACK-6GD5

I don't think there are any better answers than return or RMA that thing. If it works with other cards it should be the Titan. If you can't get past the bios there isn't much you can do... or should have to do. I assume you bought this card new? Take it back where you bought it and swap out for a new one if possible, if not RMA.

It could be the Sandy Bridge / GOP Video BIOS issue.

Can you try the Titan in another machine?

If it boots fine in a non SB machine then you want flash the Video BIOS of the Titan to either a non GOP version or failing that a newer GOP Version (if available).

Thanks for your posts! Much appreciated.

However, I just solved this using someone elses solution who posted on this same thread, just in the "Nvidia flavour" subforum. It seems that the problem got solved by simply changing the UEFI bios boot priority or whatever from UEFI ROM to Legacy and the Titan started working like a dream.

Yeah that's the issue I was talking about. Luckily your board supports just turning that off. However you won't be able to support UEFI non legacy booting. If this bothers you consider the video BIOS option.
