Yesterday, I assembled a PC that has the following components:
PSU: PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 Quad SLI
MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z87
CPU: Core i7 4770K @ default clocks
MEM: 16GB Crucial Ballistix Elite memory
GPU: ASUS Nvidia GTX770 DirectCU II
SND: Sound Blaster Z
SSD1: Kingston HyperX 120GB
SSD2: Samsung 470 128GB
HDD1: WD Caviar Black 500 GB
HDD2: WD Caviar Black 500 GB
HDD3: Samsung HD502i 500 GB
When I shut off the computer completely and start it up again, the keyboard and mouse often fail to initialize and the screen remains blank. Even when the bios does post, it tells me to enter setup to save memory settings. I do this, but upon restart it asks me to do the same thing again or fails to post. After several attempts I am able to get to the operating system. There is are no LED warning lights active on the motherboard, and all my devices are recognized.
When I first built the computer and started it up there were no issues. The problems began after I flashed the BIOS to 1007 and then to 1205.
Does anyone know what the problem may be? Could it be that 750 watts is insufficient for this system? Do any other SABERTOOTH Z87 owners experience problems with the 1007/1205 bios?
One issue is that my RAID 1 array is probably not working anymore, though I have not investigated this in detail. I do not think this is related to the problem, but if someone thinks so let me know. In either case, if anyone knows how to set up the hardware RAID for sabertooth, I would be very interested. If possible, I want to preserve my RAID 1 array. However, I can copy my data to another drive and then set up the area no problem. The problem is that I do not see a place to set up the raid, and I installed windows using the AHCI, not RAID, configuration for SATA. I cannot change it to RAID because Windows 8 will not boot.
Thanks so much.
