My PC, built 3 years ago by myself
Intel pentium 4c 3.0ghz northwood
abit ic7 motherboard
2x 512mb kingston hyperx ddr rom pc3500
seagate 7200rmp HDDs 120 gig and a new 300 gig
radeon 9700 pro AIW
antec 420 watt truepower PSU
windows xp pro sp2
some belkin ethernet card
various dvd burners and drives
I've first started to have problem last Saturday. On that day the PC shut down by itself three times. First time is about 15 minute after I turned it on that morning, firefox was updating and after I reboot I lost all my bookmarks. Second crash was while I was trying to install a game, third crash was while I was browsing the internet. After the third crash I can't sign on to trillian. The second and third time the shut down was preceeded by my monitor turning into a jumbo of random pixels. After it shuts down I can still see the green LED on my motherboard on none of the fans are moving. I can't start the PC at this state as it will go to the xp loading screen and stuck there forever. To start the PC again I need to unplug and replug its power cable.
I took my PC out and cleaned it, thinking it's temperatre issue. It worked fine for 4 days then it start to crash on Thursday, while I'm uploading stuff to my website via filezilla. After I restart the PC I get this message when I try to run filezilla,
"Error, can't parse 'FileZilla.xml', the file may be corrupt. For this session, the registry will be used to store the settings."
So whatever is happening is starting to fuck my data, it's definitely a hardware issue. This time I unplugged my video card and ethernet card, thoroughly cleaned them since I forgot to clean the fan on the underside of my video card last time. After that I did another clean up on the PC, especially on the video card slot. It worked fine for 2 days when it crashed again on Friday.
On Saturday it shut down again when I was playing dark crusade. And it had just shut down by itself 2x this morning, once while I'm playing dark crusade and another time while I'm playing zelda minish hat on an emulator.
I think it's either the video card or the motherboard, but I'm not really sure. Somebody please help.
