About a month ago I noticed my computer started to chug for no reason then it would randomly restart. I was told to re-install Windows which I did about 2 hours ago, and I still have the same exact problem, I was told by a Best Buy technician that it was a corrupted file in Windows so thats why I re-installed. When I go AFK for a few minutes I come back to a black screen that says Reboot with Disk Multimedia or something on the lines of that. Please any help would be greatly appreciated because I cant seem to find any answers.

A randomly restarting computer can be a great number of things including, bad ram, high tempuratures, or a bad PSU to name a few. By telling us more such as what components are you running, does the computer only restart in Windows or will it restart if its just sitting in the BIOS, are you overclocking, how long do you run it before it restarts, what programs are you running when it restarts, etc. people here can more easily and accurately help you solve your problem.

i have never tried to overclock it, it restarts and gives me an error of "reboot and insert bott disk" whenever i go afk from the pc for about 3 mins or more

Your harddrive might have a bad sector. Run a disk diagnostic test and see if it passes it.
However, like meatychessyboy said, give us more info on the problem. What specs do you have? Do you get this all the time? or occasionally? Can you game on it or do anything on it?

the pc is always chugging and lagging and freezing, and will randomly restart when i go afk
i cant game on it all, even if i go on AIM, when i get a message the thing will freeze

Run tests on your harddrive immediately. This is a strong sign of bad sectors and soon-to-be-dead drive.
you can setup the harddrive as slave in your other computer. Or you can run it directly on the computer that is having trouble, if you can get it stable enough. What brand is it? I think Western Digital has a data diagnositc tool that lets you boot in dos without going into windows.
After I downloaded the diagnostic tool from WD and ran the test to see if I had any bad sectors, after about 5 mins my computer just freezes and I get a red and yellow line across the top of my monitor and I have to manually shut down. Now I retried and got the same problem so I restarted and just checked email and listened to music for about an hour now, even though my computer just freezes and slows down for no reason, it doesnt shut down, I'm guessing that this is a hard drive problem then?

try it in different rig - just to make sure...if the same thing happens, then the HD is defective...

Take the harddrive out and set it as slave in a different computer and run the test.

Sounds to me like you should take it to a friend or a store for diagnostics, other than Best Buy. Find a local PC shop. Im thinking it could be heat freezing the system up.
