PC posted, but got e6400 question (please help)

I'm sort of a noob, been close to 3 years after building my first pc, so I need a few quick answers.

I have the Gigabyte DS3 combo, finally got some Corsair ram after the incompatible GSkill ram and just relieved the computer finally posted.

So now I just want the E6400 to run at normal ghz before overclocking. The Post shows Core 2 CPU 533mhz (66x8) And in Bios settings it shows Clock ration 8x and Cpu Host Mhz at 100.

So what's the normal setting to reach 2.13 ghz. And why does the Post show an odd 66x8 when the bios settings show 100x8, or is that two different things? Also, why didn't the computer start at normal ghz, is it just a precaution?
 
It might be EIST, disable that in advanced bios setting.

FSB should be 266 to equal 2.13.
 
Change the 100 you see in the BIOS to 266. Leave the mulitplier at 8. Keep the memory divider set to auto or something low enough for your RAM. I can't tell you what value; the way Gigabyte displayed the memory divider numbers confuses the hell out of me. I'm going from memory here, but I think that's what I did last night.

I tried that, the frequency stayed the same, but this time the post went further than before, showing PCI device listing and insert system disk, where before it just sat at the first screen with the, hit delete to enter bios. Why did that suddently change?

I have the F1 bios it turns out.

RIght now with the CPU host control disabled with the CPU Host Mhz at 100, the ram shows 800mhz.

When I enable CPU Host Control to change the CPU Host Mhz, the ram drops to 300mhz. Oh, wait, when I enter 266 to the Host Mhz, the ram jumped back upto 800mhz, so confusing :)

Here goes the reboot. And I guess I can install windows at this point and then do the bios update through windows since I don't have a floppy drive/
 
Okay, the reboot worked at 8x266, but the post still showed that 66x8, I'm guessing that's an F1 bios error and that it's actually running at 8x266? Being what's set now.

I think the MB ignores the CPU Host MHz setting when CPU Host Control is disabled. Drives me crazy because I expect the MHz field to be hidden.

I'm not sure about the F1 BIOS thing... my board came with F2 and I flashed to F3c before I even had my E6400.
