I am getting the Lian Li BZ-502B Fan Module with Mesh Front and Filter and was wondering what I would use to paint the aluminum of it to black.

I want it to match the color of my case and the module, So the silver doesnt show thru the mesh.

Get a can of self etching primer and a can of flat black spraypaint.
 
also, if you're super hardcore and want to get all the hard to get bits, drill out the rivets with a dremel, paint it with multiple coats, wetsand with very very high grit (like 1000-1500) sandpaper to make it glossy, and reassemble. Though thats a VERY long and expensive process, my buddy has been doing it to his Coolermaster HAF for 4 months now, and hes poured 500$ into it hahahha.
 
yeah, i woudn't do it either. Mind you, that cost does include the dremel, and 10 cans of paint, plus the clear coat stuff. He went nuts with it, and accidentally broke through the finish while wet sanding and had to start over :(
 
I think some self etching primer and flat black spraypaint will suffice ;)

I do have a dremel and a dremel etcher :)
 
I found some krylon ultra flat & semi-flat black spraypaint, Will that do or do I need just flat black.
 
Check autoparts stores or Lowes/Home Depot for the self etching primer.

As far as the black it really does not matter, given that it looks like it will be hidden behind that filter so flat black would "disappear" better.
 
Home depot was 1 of the places I called and they didnt have any self etching primer :eek:
 
I even called walmart and they didnt have it, Unless its in a different dept, I talked to the paint dept.

Edit: It may be cheaper elsewhere, I didn't take the time to look at all the options. That'll get you started though. There was an Nvidia cube case that someone built and used that. Finish came out pretty nice on it which I'll try to find right now.

Went to walmart this morning, And found some rust-oleum self etching primer in the automotive section and flat black paint (It was flat black enamel, Hope thats ok). But least I got some paint. ;)

I was hoping to get it today, But it shipped out late, So probably be here tomorrow.
 
Got the part today. 1 part comes off by screws, The part (hehe) I wanna paint is riveted on, So I'll de-rivet it, Paint it and re-rivet it back on.

I had a extra piece of acrylic and thought I'd just mess around with it w/ my etcher, Not the best in the world, But owell HEHE:
