pc media speakers to e7/e9?

So, I currently am using an e7/e9 combo for my hd650's (I know, the e7/e9 supposedly don't pair well with the 650's but that's a different topic) and when I have friends over I have an old pair of logitech z2300's to switch to with my old sound card when we watch movies or are listening to music or something. Problem is, my card (audigy 2 zs) must have died because I was getting freezes and unable to boot until I finally reformatted and figured out that it was happening again when I tried to re install the drivers for it.

Well, I'm not sure I really care to buy a new sound card for the sole purpose of using it occasionally when I watch a movie with a friend or something. I think(?) It's possible to get my z2300's connected to my e9 as well through one of the back outputs, but not quite 100% sure on it.

If there were a way, which method would I be using to switch between speakers and the headphones? Sorry for sounding like a noob, I know this question is pretty bad but I've done a bit of googling and was unable to find an answer.

You should be able to use the line out for the speakers just fine. I'm not sure if it switches the line out on/off, but if you're not using the speakers shut them off. If you're not using the headphones lower the volume on the e9 or unplug them. Seems the simplest way to me.
 
Hello I use the same setup, E7/E9 + Audioengine speakers. I used to use RCA to 3.5mm input from the E7/E9 to my A5's but it was messing with my volume.

Basically, Computer --USB--> E9/E7 --RCA---3.5mm--> A5's.
With this I couldn't regulate the volume with the E9 knob, the speaker volume knob, when turned down really low you can still hear sound coming from it.

Now I use:
Computer --USB-->E9/E7 ---3.5mm---> A5's.
Now I can regulate the volume by the E9 knob and the speaker knob but not on the main computer or the E7.

I think yours can work the same way, just USB the audio from the computer to the E9 and connect the E9 to your speakers. You can use headphones via the E9's jacks and it'll stop playing from your speakers.
