Hello, I have been toying with the idea of buying a new case for a spare KD7-E and XP3000 that I have kicking around. I have been searching far and wide for the perfect case and have come to a split in the road to the chosen case. I have been considering purchasing an Apple Power Mac G3 Blue and White or a G4 QuickSilver case. I was wondering if anyone has worked on a mod like this before or has any advice inputs before I seriously look into buying one.

Thanks for any info/advice in advance.

Here is an example of what I’m looking to buy.

As a side note I have heard that m-atx boards are better choices for these cases.

Wow  , that is pretty much what I was looking for, kind of wish I had an m-atx board instead of a standard atx. Ohh well, thanks for the link it answered the questions I had.

1. can it easily be done - yes
2. will it accept standard atx boards - no

Thanks. :D

i've also seen one done i think it was at bit-tech but it was a g3 case and a pc inside

looked like crap because they painted it red. Macs are already pretty, they don't need any more.

Was that the one where they turned to optical drive on its side? I remember a g3 mod where they did that.

I agree, Macs cases are pretty nice looking and are WELL constructed/easily accessible in my experiences with them. I thought it would be amusing to have my friends (1/2 mac users and 1/2 pc users) watch me hit the power button on a mac and have windows load. And at the same time giving some spare parts a much needed home.

Great cases but having done a pc - g4 conversion there are quite a few issues to overcome to do it sucessfully

My log is here if you want to see how I did it (It was quite a few years ago now)

Nice job man :D, looks excellent. You overcame that ram placement problem quite nicely. I am probably going to scrap the idea of the conversion for now, as the KD7-E is a standard atx board and I don’t feel like buying a new board and a new case. Thanks for the info and worklog, I will keep your experiences in mind incase I run across a m-atx board.

Thanks :D

No worries

If you want to stay with ATX mobo why not try the g5 case? They are full atx :)

Should be easier to do as well. I had a g5 case to do the project but it was in terrible condition so I didnt bother in the end.
