My brother bought a eVGA 590 SLI motherboard, and a 5000+ X2 black edition. He sent me the following email after he tried OC'ing.

I changed some cpu & mem settings in the bios, rebooted and got an error. Then I cleared the bios using the clear cmos jumper and now it won't start at all it either hangs there doing nothing, or gives me the no ram installed warning beep.

Is there anything else he can try?

Thanks

all due respect, but is he a n00b?

what i mean is, do you think he moved the CMOS jumper back to default position?

just the 1st notion off the top of my head ...

or perhaps he over-volted the RAM and fried it ... or it was bad right out of the box ... gl

Make sure he put the jumper back in its initial position. If he didn't, that would prevent the PC from booting. If he did, tell him to disconnect the power and remove the CMOS battery, and leave the system like that for half an hour or so.

Change command rate (CR) to 2T in memory settings. If not you may not make it to post. This is 1 area that can cause a computer to go blank blank screen after setting OC entries .

You can go here to read up on memory timings
