PC Gaming is too much work.

You can't explain things logically to All around here. They believe all games sell just as many copies as COD. When in reality, many games actually lose money, especially PC only games. It is no wonder why most games are multi platform now.

I'm glad you provided us with the stats to back up your statement.

If anything, with console ports going to PC, PC gaming is simpler for the dumb sheeple who buy aforementioned console ports.
I'm still waiting for you to start a development company to produce these games that are so fucking awesome and perfect...

It's what they can get from the market though.

Price is quite simple to understand. If people don't buy the game, the price will drop quicker. Think what you want to about their intelligence, but that's reality.

There's obviously a (large) element of that, but its really not that simple. If it were, you yanks would be forking out $100 for a game like us Aussies.

Its a mixture what what the arseholes can charge and still have enough sheeple buying it, what the current precedent for pricing is, what the competition might be and also the publishers desire to stay in the good books with its customers.

A great example of the last point is GOG/CDP, even though they were legally obliged to charge $80 for TW2 online in Australia they got around it in a way to still be able to charge $50 for it. They could have just said fuck it the Aussies can pay $80, make $30 extra on each copy, gamers will still buy it and they have no option, but GOG/CDP were good enough to figure out its better in the long run to appear to your customers as being on their side instead of the us vs them mentality.

I for one hope MW3 is killed by BF3 and the damn publisher goes down the tube from wasting too much money on advertising, not because I think its a bad game but I'd rather the publisher die than have their attitude toward gamers and game marketing in the industry.

I was referring to his comment about how most games actually lose money these days.

This is not something that is reported, even in their quarterly reports because everything is clumped into one big number.

1) plenty of development houses go out of business (I wonder why this happens)
2) In these days, squeals are made if the game makes any larger than average profit (there are tons of IPs dropped)
3) Almost all big games are now multi platform. There were many hold out development houses but they realized that PC only was not a sustainable business because of the rampant piracy, lower install base, cost of PC development and some other minor factors.

Given these facts, I think we all can assume that many games lose money.
