I have my fire extingusher ready.

Something that has really been bugging me lately is the state of pc gaming. Lets go back in time a few years when xbox came out with halo. I remember being pissed off that my 300 dollar console did better graphics then my 2500 dollar computer. I think at the time had a ti200 or ti4600 cant remember and a xp 1800. Anyways I thought the last gen of consoles would kill off pc gaming im glad I was wrong. But really the only game that comes to mind that saved it between then and now was bf1942. A truely orignal and unique idea with killer gameplay that lasted for years not just a novelty of graphics. The desert combat mod kept me playing for years. Then the curse of the sequals follows with bf:vietnam A horrid expierance that when I first bought it couldnt run it due to its copy protection and having problems with dual drives. After a month or so they had it patched enough I could play it and found that the game felt like a slideshow even though I was getting good FPS. I was greatly disapointed and even now the game still just doesnt feel right. Fortunetly another orignal game came out which was Farcry. It was a ok game but was mainly a graphics fest with very little in the innovation department been there done that. So the current state of pc gaming has 2 major players Doom 3 and Halflife 2. Notice the numbers after each game. Doom3 was a complete and total turd nothing special what so ever about it besides the graphics "which was mainly a 5 inch circle of light" And halflife2 which was a remarkable game but to me was quickly forgotten, Yes it had great physics, awesome graphics and sound but it was still a sequal and there wasnt a whole lot of innovation involved with it either. Was just a current date FPS what I expected and nothing more.

World of warcraft seems to be all the rage now but its another example of recylced crap.
Everyone seems to love this game " Ive never played it and hate rpgs especially online ones" The warcraft games were great but now blizzard seems to be whoring the franchise like everyone else does.

Next month we get battlefield 2 another damn sequal. Im sure it will be a good game but the appeal of the first was there was nothing like it. Another sequal is the same gameplay with better graphics. New weapons new vehicles = cheap. I want something totally new and refreshing.

Lastly the cost of graphics cards in order to play the new games at a acceptable rate has just become outrageous and out of the budget of most gamers. $400 , $450, $500 even $550 for a single piece of hardware to play a few games that actually support the features of the card is the biggest killer of pc gaming. It wasnt that long ago that people thought you were insane for dropping $300 for the latest greatest video card. How can the industry expect pc gaming to survive if the cost for running thier games is so out of line.

I recently found the heart of gaming a simple game on newgrounds.com called defence 2 "yes i know another sequal" But I had more fun with that game which had horrible graphics, bad sound and lousy controls then anything that comes to memory. The game just had something about it. It was fun and kept me wanting to play. Very simple game that runs on simple machines.

I just wish the industry would start pumping out orignal ideas again "psychonauts comes to mind" with fun gameplay that makes you want to keep playing. If they dont I think pc gaming will be replaced by consoles which can now give you the same expierance for a whole lot less dough. Halo and Halo 2 still provide the best multiplayer expierance possible especially on a system link. If all the rumors hold true regarding xbox 360 I think that will be the nail in the coffin for pc gaming. And honestly Im at the point now where I welcome it. Im tired of dropping thousands of dollars a year to play a few titles on pc instead of paying a few hundred every 4 or 5 for the same or better expierance on consoles.

Im done ranting. I didnt proof read this or spell check it so im sure the grammer nazis have lots of ammunition on me but I dont care about the pimple faced virgins. Just wanted to rant and Im sure more then a few will agree with me and Im sure lots will be !!!!!!s and flame instead of seeing the realization that im right. What ever the case I will read the replys but wont respond.
