PC games lacking native Anti-Aliasing (AA) support

I find the lack of support for anti-aliasing in many PC games, specifically multi-format games, somewhat depressing. DirectX 10-compatible cards have been around for, what, four years now yet developers still stick to the dated DirectX 9, which has serious limitations with AA when the engines use deferred rendering. I've actually played some console games which have AA where the PC doesn't and that just stings, e.g. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing which is completely AA-free on the PC. I think even GTA IV on the 360 uses 2xMSAA yet the PC version has none. Considering the Xbox 360 uses DX9 with DX10-extensions it just screams laziness to me that the same isn't done on the PC. And don't even get me started on Unreal Engine 3 games, seemingly written with the consoles in mind and frequently lacking even basic graphics options never mind v-sync or AA.

Personally, I cannot wait for the next-generation of consoles so that we can finally lay DX9 to rest and move onto to DX11 (or 12). Anti-aliasing should be a prerequisite for modern games, especially on the PC, not a hidden extra that has to be forced (if it can be forced) through the graphics drivers!
 
I think texture resolution and polygon count will continue to be increased for a while before we see much attention to things like AA. Hell, we may even see other rendering methods, like unbiased or even voxel engines, before really solving aliasing to a meaningful degree. just IMO of course, I'm no future teller.

Most gamers sure don't seem to care much about it anyways, as most games are fast moving enough and high res enough to not really notice jaggies
 
For me, having Vsync with triple buffering is a much important feature than AA. I can deal with jaggies because i've delt with them all my life, but tearing i'm not so used to. (Just my personal opinion of course) I have tons of PC games with no build in triple buffering and it drives me nuts.
 
Sorry misspoke, BFBC2 is also only 5.1. I forgot. Damn consoles....

Normally vsync is not a big issue for me, as if the game does not support it, it can always be forced through the driver. Have not come across a game that cannot have vsync forced on it. Cannot say the same for AA.

Triple buffering is a thing all on it's own. I like to have it, but am not good enough to notice if it is missing. Where as tearing and jaggies always stand out to me even when playing on my default 1920 x 1200.
