I recently had you guys help me with a build for my dad's birthday on the 11th (see thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1474367 ) and he absolutely loves it. You guys really made his day. =)

In fact, he wants to build a computer for mom for the new year since her current computer is about 10 years old. No joke! Specs are pretty much the same. Should I go with the same build I had for dad on the thread linked above?

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Work stuff (PPT, word/pdf processing), web browsing, watching & burning movies, a lot of video conferences
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
~600, not including shipping or tax
3) Where do you live?
Near Washington DC
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. Please be very specific.
CPU, RAM, Video card (if necessary?), PSU, Mobo, Case, Harddrive, DVD writer
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers
6) Will you be overclocking?
No
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
25.5"
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Immediately
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
Can't think of anything she will need
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license?
Yes, Windows 7 64bit

Also:
* I plan on upgrading her in the future, so may not need a video card now (?)
* Can upgrade RAM later, if it will buy a better CPU now

Thanks as always, guys. =)

Ok, I'll wait for another reply before I order. No offense, but looking for a comment with a little more thought & substance since it's a $600 decision and my previous thread had a lower budget & different deals. Thanks though.

Thanks Fromeo, I'll check it out.
To the other replies, thanks anyway, and still, true thanks to Danny again. I will probably do something between Fromeo's suggestion & Danny's.
I was looking for more ideas since the previous thread had combos that were no longer available and didn't know if anything more was available as after christmas specials. Sorry to be a bother, I guess.

I think some combos are no longer available, so you could probably re-work the build a bit, but i'm kinda lazy right now, sorry. Since the usage didn't really change much (video conferencing instead of gaming), you could use pretty much the same build. Did you get a vidcard for your dad? If not, use that $100 for a vidcard for him and your mom's could simply use onboard.

Let's make a build similar to your dads build that Danny Bui put together. It won't be exactly the same because the combo deals on that previous build is no longer available. Let's go with this build. Under $500. It should kick ass.

Antec Three Hundred + Antec NEO ECO 400W both for $79.94

You can always count on HardwareGuru.

Personally I'd just get a cheap Dell box and load it up with RAM.

Thanks for the great ideas, HardwareGuru, enginurd, theQuestian and 450. I was just about to close on the same build that my dad had, with a different case. Gonna put the 100 into dad's video card too, good idea Enginurd.

Thanks for the great replies. Mom will be thrilled. =)
