I have a windows vista business machine and when I want to put it to sleep, it only logs me out. when I put my laptop into sleep (windows 7) then it goes into standby and turns (almost) everything off. How can I change the settings on the vista machine to go to sleep and not simply log off????

Putting your computer to sleep doesn't log you out because the programs are still running in the background. It still says "logged on" on the user screen. Anyways, something is interrupting your sleep mode.

Run Cmd as administrator. Type "powercfg -requests" (without the quotes). See what is interrupting it and close it.

If that doesn't work, try disabling media streaming. It's in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings. Turn off Media streaming.
