Hey all. Well this my first worklog on the [H] so I hope all goes well. This project has been going on for several months now due to lack of money and time. However, I have gotten fairly far with this project since Xmas gave me some time to work on it. Hope you all enjoy it.

I call this the [PC] Cruser since I have a 1:6 scale of a RC PT Cruiser I got on discount. I wanted to make this my main gaming computer and have a chance to use the RC function so I can easily transport it from place to place. Besides it would just be cool  . Here are some of the specs I hope to have in it when all this is done:

Intel Pentium 4/ 3.2E GHz
Corsair XMS Extreme Memory 1GB
ATI RADEON X800 PRO Video Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS
DVD+/-R
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
80GB Hard Drive (some what small but it will also be running off a file server)

Here is the victum:

I've striped the interier and installed some risers for the MB. The plan is to put the MB on top of the PSU and HDD.

Here's a shot of the MB installed. I have the HDD plate in which will hold the HDD next to the PSU.

More is still to come. I'm working on installing the DVD drive to the front of the car. Hope to have some more pictures up by this weekend.

Later :D

i'd recommend nvidia and amd, but that's just me

interesting. so you'll be able to drive your pc?

edit* and how big is that thing?

How much did that RC car cost, I was thinking about doing the same thing. Its really cool :)

The RC was only $60 from a closeout store, normaly goes for $100+. When I get the new pictures up I'll include some references to show just how big this thing is.

I'm still thinking about going with nvidia but I'm not to sure yet. Oh and yes I will be able to drive my pc :D

dunno if you would be able to do this.. or if the doors open/close, but if you could make one side of the car with suicide doors for the dvd?

that looks like a nice size to work with... really freaking big:p

compgeeks has a 1/6 scale hummer if anyone wants to try this with one of those for $63 (plus shipping) its in black & red.

good luck with the mod. i might have gone AMD (if only for the heat reduction), but that's just me. have fun!

I wanted to go with AMD, but the motherboard was a gift from my wife, so intel will have to do for now. I hope to have some more pictures up later this weekend. Time has been tight for me to work on it. More is still on the way.

that's a good excuse. just remember: if she bugs you about spending all your time with that, "it was your idea to give me the motherboard, and i needed a case, so..."

what PSU is that btw?

OMG! It’s been forever since I've last worked on this project. I could come up with a lot of excuses on what has been holding me back, but I'll just stick with the classic, no money. Actually, I've had the DVD drive Xmas 2004, but I've only now been able to order a new part that I will be installing later this week.

I finally got around to putting in a DVD DL burner I bought from newegg.com (click here). The best place I though would work would be right in front. I will still be working on it a little to make it "flow" with the car and close up some of the open space I have around the drive.

So far so good. I'm waiting for my sound card (CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS) to come in so I can start working on the side I/O ports. I'm still not sure what to do, but I'll come up with something.

it would have been really cool to put the cd drive behind the bumper so you could press "i heart m cruiser" to eject. hehe.

nice work man

I was originally hopping to do that. However the steering motor was in the way so I had to move the DVD drive up.

I have seen a few people make PC's out of RC cars, but they all run into the same problem.
Where the heck can I fit the PSU?
one guy I saw had the solution... He put a motorbike trailer hitched to the back of the hummer and put the PSU in it.

Well the new sound card came in today. I'll start thinking of a way to put it in the cruiser and install it later this weekend. Later all.

You should take apart a speaker and hard wire it into the car. So it looks like Subs, hahahahaha.

Small update. Started working on the side ports. Doesn't look to bad right now, just a few touch ups to make it fit a little more. Once I get all the exterior work done it will be time for the really fun part, painting this bad boy.
