Hi! I just finished installing my new Accelero Xtreme 4870x2 into my PC. My idle temps have gone down from 85c to about 40c! The only problem I'm getting is that when ever I play a game my computer crashes after about 10 min. This just started happening right after I installed the cooler.

So, I took out the cooler and reinstalled it. Everything is where it's supposed to be, but it still crashes...

I've check GPU-Z and my temps are around 53c while gaming. One temp did catch my eye though. It's the VDDC temp. Thats goes up to around 105c. I don't know if that's normal or what.

So, if anyone knows what's wrong please help. Thanks :)

PC:
4870x2 with Accelero cooler
QX9450 @ 3.4
Biostar T-Power motherboard
150gb raptor HD
windows 7 64bit ultimate
4gb corsair dominators
thermaltake 750watt tough power PSU

You are frying the GPU's voltage regulator.
Possibly you havent fitted its heatsink or it isnt making good contact.

Ouch. Check the ram sinks as Nenu suggested.

Ram sinks as in all the supplied sinks with the kit.

I have read a thread on another forum where people were having issues with an Accelero cooler for the GTX285 or thereabouts. While they didn't have the crashing issues, the VRMs got mightily hot with the supplied VRM cooler. One person even cut off the VRM heatsink on the stock heatsink and used that one instead which gave him much lower VRM temperatures.

The conclusion was that while the Accelero cooler is good at cooling the GPU die and RAM, it needs separate (proper) VRM heatsinks instead of the supplied junk heatsink.

I've noticed that the new cooler comes with two power adapters that are required to be installed. they're like extension cables. there is one 6 pin to 6 pin and an 8 pin to 6 pin.

My PSU doesn't have two 6 pins so I had to use another adapter to make one. Should I connect the 8 pin into the 6 pin? would that work?

Do you think this might be the problem? I've tried everything else...
