PC connection to amplifier

I have a question that I was hoping you might help me with - I am looking for an amplifier that is capable of connecting both a turntable to pay my old vinyl records and also connect my PC to play the numerous MP3 that I have collected - what would be a nice inexpensive option for this, and what type of components would I need...it would be nice if I could connect wireless but not essential.

Any assistance you might be able to provide would be appreciated.

If all you are doing is playback from the PC then use a toslink optial cable from your motherboard to the amplifier. Toslink optical supports uncompressed PCM 2.0 and compress 5.1 like dolby and DTS. No need for a dedicated card in this situation. If analog audio comes into play that's a different story altogether.

which amplifier depends on which speakers.

right away for inexpensive i might suggest one of the nicer Topping amps and a TCC phono stage

again, this is assuming you have decently efficient speakers, shorter listening distance, and a MM cartridge.

ok this is bigger and more expensive than the other stuff suggested (and assumes you have a sound card you are happy with ..as it has no onboard dac)

however this thing is kinda of a awesome deal for $299 Pioneer A-20 ELITE 2 channel amplifier is a pretty damn nice amp old school design but with a remote and all. 50WPC pretty good deal @ $300 nice phono stage also.

it is just too bad they don't sell the silver face one in America but oh well..

of course if you want to do something less expensive...I for example have my Vintage Pioneer SA-710 hooked up to my computer 65WPC good phono stage no remote ...it was under $100 used it is from 1981~ so it is pretty old but works great / sounds great.. the problem is finding them in working / good shape in general..but there are of course a bunch of vintage amps/ receivers on ebay.but ebay pricing is generally more and you have to trust the description of the condition of the gear is accurate.

if also have a beautify Pioneer SA-410 (25WPC) integrated amplifier i got for $20 locally at a estate sale store.

but vintage has it's pitfalls I bought a "untested" Scott 440A which is all messed up and i need to get it fixed or whatever and my i think my SX-780 needs some work


I also have a little 25WPC Sansui 350A in the bedroom it is one sweet sounding vintage receiver i got it for $40


i do really like that A-20 Elite amp for $300... a bit more money certainly than some options but for the quality your getting it is pretty sweet for $300

if you liked the A-20 and didn't have a decent sound card the Asus Xonar DG /DGX are good cheap cards (my DG was like $15 after rebate).
