Hey guys, I brought my current PC system in march of 2008 and am currently moving to Core i7 with a 930 CPU and upgrading all my PC components and peripherals apart from sound system/card/monitor. I thought it would be interesting to see how much the parts I purchased cost now and to my suprise everything was more expensive apart from my sound card and motherboard which were no longer listed (70SB046A02008 - Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum - ASUS Rampage Formula x48). The CPU was also more expensive on some sites (QX9450)

The following items were all more expensive ranging from £5 to £125 more

500GB Seagate Barracuda SATA2 32MB ST3500320AS
Corsair TX Series 750W ATX2.2 SLI
Lite-On DH-20A1S-18C - DVD -R/RW/DL/RAM SATA
Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5D
Creative Labs 51MZ0310AA001
Logitech 910-000094
G5 LASER MOUSE
Microsoft JR9-00002 - XBOX360 WRLS
Antec P182 Advanced Super Midi Tower

The point of this topic is really the question, is this normal? Can this happen to select products?

yes this happens at times to products.

heck when I bought my 5870 I did it a few weeks after release, was about $330 total canadian.

Now its about $430 before taxes to buy the same thing.

It's a great feeling to know what I brought 2 years ago is still expensive now. My QX9450 seems to be only behind the 965 Extreme i7 and a few Xeons in most benchmarks but DDR3 tripple channel has a 1/3 increase over my DDR2 dominator so the right time to upgrade.

One product that is showing its age is my 8800GT 512mb, you will be interested to know that has decreased in price :)
