Yeah so I am building my first pc and have read some comments regarding PSUs. Not sure which of these I would prefer, I want something with quality and is not entirely loud. I have this case to work with as well:

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-129-145&depa=1

PSU 1
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=17-153-006&DEPA=0

PSU 2
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-912&depa=0

Oh and I plan not to run that much, basic vid card (6600 gt, 2X512 of ram, 1 dvd drive, 120 Gb HDD, Floppy, any other basics)

Thank You-

I would go with option two. Just because I believe that antec makes a higher quality product when it comes to psu

I never had problems with Antec my first psu was an Antec tru480 and now Neopower 480 no problems yet *knock on wood* :p

I actually am using that Thermaltake one right now. Works fine for me.

But here are the outputs for each, so make your choice on what you will need:

Thermaltake Output:
  • +3.3V@30A
  • +5V@40A
  • -5V@0.3A
  • +12V@18A
  • -12V@0.8A
  • +5VSB@2A

Antec Output:
  • +3.3V@28A
  • +5V@38A
  • -5V@0.5A
  • +12V@18A
  • -12V@0.8A
  • +5VSB@2A

And neither have PFC, just something to think about.

Haha, can you clarify that for me or someone else? I might have mentioned before, but I am a noob when it comes to the explanation of all this. This is my first pc build and I figured I would buy everything standard. I have no idea how to overclock, tweak, etc. anything. Just need something basic that will work for my case and components (got a MSI Neo2 Plat mobo and AMD 3000)

Thanks.

Sorry about that. I too am a noob, well not as much now as I was prior to starting this thread about needing a PS.

Use the links in that thread (and there are a lot of them and not all of them pertain to mATX PS's) , or see the stickies at the top of the PS forum, or wait for IceCzar to come by, for he is the master and we are but mear grasshoppers.
:D

OR- it means the Thermaltake has a slightly better output than does the Antec, 'cept for the -5V rail, but I am not sure if that slight difference matters. Like I said, I am still a noob. ;)

Well I still appreciate you insight. I just want to make sure it's compatible with my mobo, I was leaning towards the Antec.

I have the superlanboy with Antec True Power 430. It's quiet, that's for sure. The PSU is going to be a little louder than the case, but that's because it's got higher RPMs. Antec makes it's stuff to be quiet, especially the case. 120mm fans, rubber mounts on the HDs and the fan's aren't mounted with screws (some sort of rubber thingamajigs). Watch what heat sink you use.

Antec TrueBlue 480 is a perfect fit for that case, its blue glow matches the front case fan. :D

Either that or just get the Neopower 480.

recommending either supply without knowing what its powering is actually a recipe for disaster, from where Im sitting it looks like your selecting a supply based on a budget rather than what it actually needs to power

that rarely ends well

might I recommend
Running the numbers

give me a link to the basic config and I'll help you with the rest ;)

pay special attention to if the mobo has a +12V auxillary power connector
