Hi all, to start, I am going into this knowing this will not be cheap to do, but I finally have the means to do a PC build I want to do for a long time now. The PC it self is all spec'ed out already as well as the Display and other peripherals. The issue remaining is the Audio.
To begin, I suffer from 30% hearing loss in my right ear and 70% in the left due to a sever infection I had as a kid, and the loss is not something that a hearing aid can fix sadly. With that said I have very sensitive hearing when it comes to Very High pitches in the treble range and sounds in the deep bass range, its the mid to mid high and mid low I can't hear very well. So ya its weird how my hearing loss has messed with what I hear clearly.
This brings me to the issue at hand, I am looking to do the audio over the TOSLINK to an external amp, where I would output it to surround speakers and also headphones. I am a major music listener, to keep it short, I like all music, just not all songs and/or artist. So I listen to all types of music. I also Watch movies a lot, I have on my media server about 600+ last I checked. (All legally on there to add for anyone that takes issue.
) I also Play a lot of Games on the computer, more than any sane man should.
So to sum it up, firstly what amp, or amp's should I go with for this that would drive a 5.1 Surround setup and also 250-600 ohm headphones, second what speakers would offer to most tune-able sound in that large sound stage with adjustable treble and bass, lastly which headphones out there would like the speakers offer the best sound stage with adjustable bass and treble in a closed back construction so as to minimize sound leakage and be between the 250 to 600 ohm impedance range?
I hope you all can help, thanks for your time.
