So lets begin.....

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, AutoCAD/Revit, Photoshop, Web browsing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
1700 dollars, Oregon does not have tax, but shipping might be included

If you still want to spend more money, just grab the 256GB version of the SSD I recommended above, a second GTX 560 TI 448 Core for SLI, and/or a second 1TB hard drive.

I just found out that autocad is a single-thread application and only uses one core rather than all four at the same time, and i also found out that many people have benchmarks stating that the hyper threading makes autocad slower since it increases the cores from 4 to 8... its weird, but i7 would be pointless. wouldn't it?

With Autodesk Revit, the company actually recommend the Core i7 2600 for their 64bit 2012 version:

So it could be a case of which version of the software you're using that'll determine which CPU you should get.

btw im in the process of buying all the parts, some parts already came in. I decided to go with the Corsair 600tm-White case, found it on sale at bestbuy, got it yesterday and they sent me a black one instead. Not cool. Going back to get my white one today, might take a week for it to be shipped to the store. Funny how my order details describe the white version and they still sent me the black version.
 
Whoa whoa, don't buy the CPU, mobo, or RAM just yet: Intel is supposedly releasing new CPUs in late April/early May. So unless you need the PC right away, hold off on those three parts.

Though besides the case, what other parts did you order?
 
I know that they are releasing it, i'm waiting for the i7 2600k price to go down and the ivy bridge will help bring that price down. I already bought the mobo, ram, h60 heatsink, case and ssd..
 
guess i wasn't really sold when i heard that the ivy bridge was coming out... i think ill be fine with the sandy bridge for now...

Umm, no it probably won't. Intel generally introduces their new gen CPUs at around the same price as their old CPUs while keeping the price of the old CPUs high.
 
ya i noticed that the 960 bloomfield is still 300 dollars after 3 years... i mean i dunno if it was higher than that price... newegg has the i7 2600k for 300 now just for easter.
 
Wait for Ivy Bridge. If nothing else, the new Z77/79 boards may offer things that the current P67/Z68 boards don't have.
 
nah im good...i already bought almost everything. just need the gpu psu and cpu... buying those in that order. haha
