PB cracking !!

Im a college student, and use my 17 inch powerbook on a regular basis. Unfortunatly, where my right arm rests is right above the superdrive. Over the year, there has been seperation of the aluminum case and the gray-ish trim!!

I going to try and upload a picture.

But does anyone know what I can do to fix this here situation ?

p.p.s: is there any way to get the aluminum refinished ? It is slowing coming off due to contact with my skin.

If it's in the warranty, take it to an Apple Store or call them.

My powerbook Ti 15" basically has cracked everywhere along the plastic outer edge and separated with the titanium part. Basically apple glues their laptops together. The only way to fix these things (if it's not in warranty) is take them apart and use heavy duty apoxy (e.g. JB weld is what I used) to glue the damn thing back together.

You don't have the aluminum 17" PB, thats the 15" Titanium Powerbook. BigBadBiologist's suggestion of epoxy might be the only choice you have to fix the plastic. http://www.tipaint.com/ carries the two different colors of paint used on your laptop. Hope you get that bad boy looking fine.

No, it is a 17 inch powebook, I just thought it was an aluminum coating.

Yeah, that picture is definitly the 15" Ti PB - my roomie has one (looks a lot better though). Note the black keyboard, how close the edge of the keyboard is to the edge of the case and the screen mechanism. Then there's the Ti color scheme .

EDIT: Oh wait, he said its not as bad as the pic, so he has a 17 and the pic is of another PB - d'oh!
