This seemed like the best place to post it. Apologies if it isn't.

Anyways, why do some people accept PayPal, but not a Credit Card through PayPal? :confused: What's the difference?
 
There are two types of Paypal accounts. Non credit card paypal accounts are free and they dont charge you anything to transfer and receive money. If you opt for a premium account then you have everything the free one has along with being able to receive payments with credit cards. But when you switch to a premium account paypal gets something like 2.9% of whatever you receive.

If a person has a credit card then most likely they have a checking account also. So just use your debit card or an echeck or transfer money out of your bank account or whatever it is that people do for non CC paypal accounts.
 
if you have a premium account and receive a non-cc payment they still take 2.2% + 50cents on each transation of non-cc payment.
which is what happened to me, so i called them and had them revert my account back to personal, because if you receive a big chunk of money, youre gonna get a nice hit on it.

also, a premium account lets you make transaction of 10grand i think.
 
In other words unless your opening up shop dont bother with getting the CC paypal lol. If you just got a few things now and then to sell just use the personal account and if someone wants it they can learn to use something other then a credit card.
 
I found www.2checkout.com to be an excellent place, similar to PayPal but with less charges, and unlike paypal you can totally customize the look and feel of your cart.

Yea lol....

Theres no point in trying to shop around. PayPal is the best for what its used for and its completely free for a non CC account. And even if you adopt a premium account its only like 2.9% of the transfer you receive. It doesn't cost anything to send someone else money.

2.9% of $10 is only $.29. 2.9% of $100 is just $2.90. Its just pocket change compared to what your going to be forking out for shipping and handleing charges.

Its not only 2.9%, it is 2.9% + $0.30

So for that $10 you just accepted, it costed you $0.59 which comes out to 5.9% instead.

So for the $100 you just accepted, it costed you $3.20 which comes out to 3.2%

I had approximately $20,030 of received funds through PayPal last year in which I was charged approximately $836.25 in PayPal fees.The fees vs. received funds ratio comes out to about 4.175% of fees I paid to PayPal. I did however use my PayPal Debit Card for all my purchases which totaled in the amount of $15, 571 which I got approximately $233.57 back due to my 1.5% cash back bonus for having a preferred merchant account. So if you do the math of

$836.25 - $233.57 = $602.68

Which comes to a new total of approximately 3.01% of PayPal fess from my account last year.

$602.68 / 12 = $50.19 a month.

Not sure what a real merchant account costs, but to me this is pretty damn cheap for being able to accept credit cards.
