Hi,

Visiting San Francisco next month, and rather than getting bummed heavily by the hotels for internet access, I'd like to buy a pay as you go SIM for my laptop.

Last time I was in the USA in October 08, the best deal I could find was 5mb data as part of a $9.99 SIM (!!).

Are there any better deals these days?

No one can offer any help?

Hah, not from 2AM-5AM :p.

I've never used pay as you go plans before. But can you not just get on a data plan for the month, then take it back off afterwards? I'm pretty sure I've heard of people doing this before.

What kind of phone do you have? If you have an Android phone with a data plan, you can tether with PdaNet (in the market) for free. This has been my preferred method as my 3G connection is often times faster than the hotels.
