I'm looking to upgrade to the SMP client, but can't figure out the correct commands to make my standard client stop after it's finished it's current WU. Advice?



 
Do you have it running as a service, or just running in a console window?

 
Sorry, I should have specified. It's running as a service. Windows XP. Installed in C:\Apps\FoldingAtHome

Never learned command line or a non-gui system.

 
this would be a good place to start :)

i'd say to stop it after a WU is complete, your best bet is to just track it using a monitoring program like FahMon, and stop it when you notice a WU just finished
 
I was going to say just use the -oneunit flag as it's designed to stop the client when the current WU finishes.
But the service is designed to restart itself if, for some unknown reason, it crashes or stops, so although the -oneunit flag will stop the service, it will immediately restart so that flag will not achieve the desired result.

So either stop it after its finished this work unit and you'll have to delete the newly downloaded work unit.
Or stop the service and run it from a shortcut with the -oneuniy flag so it doesn't download a new work unit.

I'm upgradeing my Dual cores to Quad cores soon.
I'll end up with 12 or 13 Quads.
Will hope to have just over 120 Ghz in my home farm then.
And at ~300 PpDpGhz = A lot of Points :eek:

I stopped the service after it had finished a WU. Kind of funny that the SMP client requires the administrator's password to install. I guess people who cure diseases have "principals" about borging other's boxes.
