Any1 ever try passive cooling on their 9600 Pro? No matter how far I o/c it it still runs cool as a cucumber. I was thinking I could rid myself of the noisy stock cooling. I'm going to adhere a standard heatsink (black 1.5"x1.5"x.75") with Artic Alumina thermal epoxy. Just wondering if any1 else has tried. I honestly don't know why ATI even put active cooling on the core.

Couple things.

You can go passive but you'll need to find a good heatsink.

NO epoxy! drill holes inthe heatsink and bolt it on.

no voltmods. and you're overclock may be hurt.

but I promise with a fairly good heatsink you'll be albe to run passive with AS3 at stock speeds.

I went with a 1u hsf with fan. http://unoid.net/9600pro

the non pros have passivle cooling... if i were you.. at least put a good passive hs on it.

zalman zm50-hp will do it passively that's basically what the sapphire ultimates use. You could go higher with the zm80(a or c)-hp as well.
