Passive Speakers

I recently bought a pair of Swan 1080's and they sound good. However a couple days after they arrived i found an old Kenwood Ka-9100 amp. So i was wondering if there were passive speakers in the same price range as the swans or possibly cheaper that would sound equally good and possibly be louder/ more powerful. Or am i good with the setup i have. Any recommendations are appreciated. I will use these for music and movies no games.

Eh, anything you buy will be roughly comparable, unless you got floorstanding units, which would probably go over the price/budget of these Swans (you're talking what? like $150?)

honestly I'd just keep what you've got, unless you can find a good used deal on some quality floorstanding speakers, and have a room large enough to support that

yea bout 150 or so maybe a little more another 30-50 dollars if its really worth it

at that price, theres nothing new, as already stated
if you can find some good used floorstanding gear, nothing wrong there, but off the shelf, not gonna happen

Are you ok with floorstanders/vintage?

it would seem this is what the thread hinges on

Yea im open to about anything dont know where to look though. Are the Behringer 2030 passive speakers any good?

those are gonna be in-line with what you have, like I said, nothing new is going to be head and shoulders above what you've got, so theres no reason to waste money

when alai and I say used and floorstanding, we mean big 1970's or 1980's speakers that you find at a garage sale, pawn shop, ebay, craigslist, etc

It wouldnt exactly be a waste of money because i can still return the the swans for a couple weeks i would just eat the shipping costs. And ok thats what i thought u meant the amp used to be with some nice big ole 80's speakers but they were blown out unfortunatley.

my point is, theres not gonna be a benefit to switching to the behringers just because their passive, NTM that IME (MY BFF JILL) behringer makes crap

just stick with the Swans, unless you can find some older floorstanders at a decent price, or buy new towers (which can run you upwards of $500) when you've got the budget

in other words, back to the closet with the Kenwood, toy with it when you've got the budget, until then, enjoy your new Swans
