passive HD cooler

If I am thinking straight, a HD is placed in this cooler. If a hd snugly fits into a 3 1/2, how the hell is the cooler going to fit in as well?

There are mounting screws underneath most 3.5" harddisks. You could mount something underneath it, but from what I've read, the sides of the harddisk dissipate most of the heat. I'd put a probe on the drive to monitor it for a while, and make sure it's not over the manufacturers operating specifications. If it isn't, why worry? Good question though.

If you've got a case where the 3.5" drive cage is infront of the intake fan, then you don't need any HD cooling at all.

hehe...under normal circumstances, i wouldn't worry at all
but i am thinking of getting a shuttle p chasis...i have basically 2 3.5 drives bays available (and it gets pretty hot in there, the hard drive) so i was thinking maybe there is some passive cooler i could stick at the bottom of the hard drive (together they will take both 3.5 drive bays)
