I have a 2.6C...not sure what stepping :( I will check. I sleep with my comp on. I got a fan controller for my fans 2x120mm, my PSU is almost silent, and my HDDs are on rubber grommets, and spin down most of the time at night anyway. But the CPU fan BUGS ME.

So I want passive

I dont need to OC, if it will effect my stability. Reasonable temps at full load is all I ask.

Dont want H2O, nor LN...etc.

Price is a factor, figure...$50 budget(?)

damn...Im gonna wait to order until later today(!) at least...thanks for the recomendation!

since the Zalman has a fan speed controller, when you go to sleep, you can even reduce the cpu fan speed noise to almost nothing.

Try the therlright sp94, it might push the price limit. and just get a quiet fan.

Does anyone elses CNPS 7000-AlCu get clogged with dust? I've had mine in for about 4 weeks, and it was surprisingly full of dust; blowing it all out dropped me about 5 degrees.

43.60 total cost
I looked, I had 43.41 in my checking :)
transfered $5 from savings...its on its way.

I will report how it works next week.

Only thing is I JUST got the new case...and I already moved everything over. So I am gonna have to pull my IDE cables...my PCI cards...CPU (I have some arctic alumina...what should I use to clean the CPU with?)and then reinstall all that..took me hours to move everything ovr (including prepping the case and routing cables...) gonna have to do it all over again...

I, and I think most people on these forums tend to clean CPU's with isopropyl alcohol. I have also found that denatured alcohol seems to work pretty well.

I use acetone... be very carefull though. Just get a q-tip and wet it, and rub it off... comes off very easy, then wipe clean with a paper towel.

I will check to make sure we have some acetone when I get up tomorrow. I will cleant he CPU up when I get the new HS in.

Thanks for the advice guys.

LOL. My 1.8A fan got replaced with a papst 21db fana and an Alpha 8942. Then I decied to lap that HS, and consenquently had to get a new Mobo/CPU/RAM. Not sure what happened...but it wouldn't boot correctly. O well. I was due for an upgrade. 2.6C went in with stock fan. Then the whole computer got moved to a dif case. Now I have to pull everything out AGAIN (just got everything put together on Tues. :( :( :( This should hold me for a while hopefully. Only thing left to upgrade is the HDD. Im running a 800JB. Thinking raptor...but I dont have a power cable that is available to stretch...maybe I will move stuff around so I can make it strech...

Other funny thing is the fans that are conencted to the fan controller are LED fans...so by looking down the side I can tell how high each fan is spinning :)

I will have case pics avail when I drop in the new HSF. My wiring is pretty damn clean...but I have a couple wires to switch around (HDD/power LEDs...my spliced front mic connector...) Then I will get pics...

hello,

Id like to contribute to the cheap 'n silent cooling scheme :D

Go and shop around computer fairies or dumpdays. Grap a handful of different coolers. Ive got two alu/copper coolkers for 2 euro's.. Modded a bit. polishing etc. now it keeps the cpu cool enough. Silent and cheap!

D0H if you wanna oc and be silent go for watercooling !

Can people PLEASE read the *ucking thread before posting???

Cmon people...it aint rocket science...

edit: I edited the post above to highlight where the quote comes from. *ucktards...

I use a damp rag to clean off my cpu, then I use dry paper towel to wipe off any leftover.

I think you could get away without using running the fan. I've run my system without a cpu fan for a day and it never locked up. It did run a tad hot, 66ºC load, but it did run. That was at stock speeds, not my overclocked speeds.

got the new HSF.

M :) A :) S :) S :) I :) V :) E

HUGE. Gonna install on Sat...

But...92mm fan and I can connect it to my fan controller. Im not gonna use the supplied fan controller...POS...

*wonders if at idle/just winamp no fan would work*...

Don't think there would be any harm trying, if it gets too hot it will either throttle down in speed or just shut off before it makes one with your motherboard.

i had a little bit of free time. My mic still doesn't work (when going throught eh front panel...it does when connected straight), but my opti's are stealthed, and my wiring is still damn good. Now I am using 3/4s of the fan controller :)

I would like get my mic working...but um...I think I killed it :)

Im gonna DL MBM...I think my NB is at 38*C under load (Planetside in background)
