Okay guys, I just aquired a VIA C3 600mhz cpu that I intend on throwing in a micro-atx board I have and building a broadband router / webserver / mailserver / wireless AP, but I want total silence..
I know you can passivly cool the C3, but I'm looking for normal temps of a passivly cooled CPU..
My cheap old mobo hasn't a CPU probe, so I'm using a thin ribbon probe under the heatsink right up against the edge of the core heat spreader... My temps are as follows.. How normal do they look to you?
All temps obtained at room temp (72F) and case cover off and no fans..
117-125F at full load for 30 minutes
105F at idle..
Seems high for a c3 to me..
