partitioning ssd for os

I have a 256gb crucial m4. planning on doing 2 partitions. 1 for os and 1 for games. How much gb do i need for my os? And is this a good idea? Will this have any negative effect like slowing down? Thanks

Why bother? Just make one large partition for everything, that way you don't have to worry about it. Performance won't be any different.

Nice thing about SSDs is that they are small enough that you can make an image backup of the whole thing, instead of having to partition it to make it manageable. I just put an image of my SSD on my 2TB media drive.

Games would be affected anyway unless you want to manage a lot of stuff.

It's really up to you, but I personally do a backup right after a fresh install for when I'd like to start fresh again in the future. You could also do an additional backup after you've installed all your programs & games.
