Partitioning RAM

hey guys, is there anyway to partition a ram, to say like, run a program or install a program onto it. Say like i wanna install a file, and then when i shut off the computer it wipes out.
Just curious, all information would help

Its called a RAM Disk
there are both software versions that employ system memory
(a startup disk employs a RAM drive)
and hardware RAM Drives, based on SDRAM, and various Flash Techologies (often called SSD, Solid State Disks)
