Can you partition an ESX environment?

What we would like to do is give the development group access to our ESX implementation, but we dont want to give them Access to everything that is running.

I thought about setting up ESXi inside a VM for them, but that kinda removes the ability for them to load balance their instances across all our resources.

What are my options here?
 
It's called permissions. So yes. Resource pools, permissions, etc. You'll need VC to make it really effective though.
 
Right but that doesnt seem to get me down to the level of control i need....unless I am missing something.

When i am looking in permissions there is network permissions: Move network, remove, config.

Now I want them to be able to do all these things and configure anything they want to how they want it.....but I dont want them to be able to affect the production environment.
 
You'd have to separate out things into resource pools, and set the permissions on the pool. :)

and you'll need Virtual Center to do that.
