hi guys need a bit of help here.

if say my OS failed is there a way to repair it with parted magic ?

how do i backup data like my documents using parted magic if i have to do a clean install ?

are there any better ways of doing things ?

Back up a bit, explain the situation more. All I've got from your post is that you have a computer and it's not bootable.

LOL.. yeh sorry m8

just a scenario i am curious on how to use parted magic.

let say the OS is not bootable

how do i copy or repair it using parted magic ?

does not compute. Parted magic is for editing partition tables. If your os does not boot the last thing you would ever want to use would be parted magic.

say if i was a pc tech who went to someones house to repair there pc that would not bootup how would i go about repairing it with the ultimate boot cd ?

what programs on the cd would i need to use to try to repair the OS ?

Well, the first thing to do is to get a full backup of the drive before you perform any writes to the device. Next would be to boot in to windows off of a recovery CD and restore the mbr. Then proceed to a full file system scan and go on from there.

There are about a hundred different issues that a failed boot could represent.

I'm still not sure why you'd be trying to repair a Windows issue with a PartedMagic CD. You would need the OS disc to run a repair.

Probably because he has no idea what he is doing.

Partedmagic is not for repairing nor recovering partitions.

It can give you access to a non booting hd but it won't fix it.
