Parking the cores -- yea or nay?

Any insight on the benefits and/or net consequences of enabling/disabling core parking?

I've read that core parking is purely for power-saving purposes, and that by disabling it, one stands to gain smoother flowing programs, particularly with games and eliminating microstuttering.

However, I've recently come across further word that core parking actually has more to do with the cpu's on-core cache and the splitting (or dedicating) of a larger amount of cache in one way or the other (I didn't grasp it fully).

Would one gain (or lose) much by enabling/disabling core parking?

After disabling parking a couple weeks ago, I've noticed that Task Manager often shows all cores crunching away simultaneously on something, even when there isn't really anything cpu-intensive running.

If disabling core parking doesn't stand to gain much (particularly, performance in games, and/or less microstuttering), then perhaps I should re-enable it.
