Are the new ones any better than the ones back in the 90's ?
I had two from back then and never had one to last 60 days
 
Agreed. The best way to look at them is "buy cheap", because you will buy again.
 
I use a Fellows shredder at work. I have ran 10s of thousands of sheets through it and still kicking. I had the wheels broke off but that was fixable.
 
we use fellow too, spring for a commercial unit and they will last.
and no, the tech behind two steel rollers shredding paper hasnt really changed.
