Some potentially great news here.

And if you don't believe that just check out these screenshots.

I have to be somewhat skeptical however. The Panzer General games were so well balanced it was spooky, and simply saying you're going to imitate that series is much easier said than done. It's a boast that's verging on arrogance.

Often times, while playing Panzer General, if I needed to complete my objectives by turn twenty seven, say, then I would often finish on that turn. I remember one time completing my objectives on the very last turn, using my very last unit, and using all of that unit's movement points - it was a recon unit, which I moved into the final town after destroying the entrenched enemy infantry unit with artillery (that I can still remember this after nearly twenty years is a testament to the game's appeal).

Also, even if the developer can get this right (and that's a mighty big if), I might discover that I've moved on. What worked for me then might not work for me today. I'll be buying it to find out though. I hope that this goes up on Steam.

Still, it's good news if you were a big Panzer General fan.

The more I look at those screenshots, the more excited I get. Look at the numbers below the units. You can see at a glance what kind of shape they're in because each unit's strength is rated from 1 to 10 - just so simple.

And yet the original title, for all its simplicity, would have you sitting there trying to work out how to capture a town or destroy a unit. It was a massive game of rock paper scissors.
