With the announcement that the Wii is going to do 480p with a 16:9 aspect ratio and the fact that I want to replace my 17" CRT anyway... I want a new WS LCD for my PC. The problem is that most of the LCDs I've looked at either don't have component, are crazy expensive, or are all about ghosting in a not-so-good way. I also play CS:S and I'll be all over TF2 when released, so I want something that won't ghost and won't break the bank.

So... What are my options for something between 20" and 24" in widescreen formats?

Well, widescreen LCD's are 16:10 ratio, so unless you want some slight stretching, you'd want to make sure you get something that has 1:1 aspect ratio. EDIT: not sure what I was thinking, I'm sure you'll want the picture stretched because 480p is pretty small at 1:1, it'll be stretched to 16:10, though, which is a bit distorted.

480pee (see what I did there?) is going to look worse and worse the bigger your screen gets, so you should probably stick with 20". I don't have any specific suggestions on which particular screen for you to get, just be aware that most LCD's fail at component input - the picture is far too dark, so you'll have to research that or use a VGA converter.

Well, the reason I'm asking here is because most of my research has come up with "Don't bother with adapters, they're dumb, btw [goes off-topic]". So... :)

I was looking at the Samsung 940BW before I got to thinking about getting something that I could hook my Wii up to, and I was underwhelmed by the fact that it's slightly shorter in visible screen height than a 17"LCD, whereas a 5:4 19" like the 940B is huge, but not WS. That's why I was thinking of a 22" WS, since it would be somewhere around the height of the 940B.

Again... I'm upgrading from a 17" Samsung CRT with a viewable of 16", so, anything's going to be bigger. :)

I got in on the 22" Westinghouse LCM-22W2 several weeks ago for $400 out the door at Best Buy. It's got DVI, VGA, Component and RCA inputs on it. I like it - got some slight backlight bleeding is all. It's $500 now though.

I have the Westinghouse also. The blacklight bleeding isn't horrible, I can only tell on a black screen. It does not support HDCP. All in All I love this monitor!
