When I set the video card to display 1920x1080@60 hz everything looks fine except that the entire screen is not full. About 1 inch of display around the sides (all 4 sides) is left black. If the TV is 1080P shouldnt a 1080P signal fill the whole TV?

I have a radeon 5670 running on windows vista x32 HDMI out to the TV.
 
Display properties in CCC ( the tab that shows a picture of your screen in the bottom left corner, right click on that and "configure", go to "scaling options", slide the tab all the way across and it should be full screen.

I am on an nvidia card right now so I don't know the exact names/location of the scaling options, but it's in there.
 
Professional or Retail plasma? With the professional/industrial plasmas you can adjust the vertical/horizontal shift/zoom at different resolutions refresh rates etc.

I don't believe the standard brick and mortar Panasonic's have that option though.
 
Does this mean that the display I have actually has a little more than 1920x1080 pixels? I do not really want to scale if it will change the image quality, the whole point of the computer was suppose to be no scaling a pure lossless image at 1080p

I am pretty sure it is just a retail display its and S1 series I would expect they would have different models for their pro displays.
 
I have a 42 inch S1 hooked up to my system. I'm driving it with a gtx280. I can't tell you where to look in your drivers, but I'm sure it's in there.

You'll want to make sure to disable any overscan on the TV. So hit the Menu button on the remote, go to Picture, then Advanced picture and make sure that you have Size 2 selected for HD size.

I've been able to get perfect 1:1 pixel mapping at 1920x1080.
 
you have to disable underscan in CC(under the overscan/underscan scaling options)

had to do the same on my 4770 + panny

What option set are you under ViperX I do not see that in my CCC, I am running 10.2 in advanced mode. I have looked at every menu and cannot find what you posted a picture of.

Decibel when I change the image to image 2 the black areas around the screen get larger when I am in full mode for the picture. Before I had about 1/2 - 1 inch of black around the sides and when in size 2 that black area roughly doubles in size further reducing the display area.
 
My Panasonic plasma has a hdmi zoom mode setting (I think that's what it's called) in the setup menu. I believe it's like hdmi zoom mode 1 or 2, one of them fills up the screen with my computer plugged in.
 
I'm running my panny lcd through hdmi. Select your display in ccc and right-click -> configure. I also set my tv to HD Size 2 in the panasonic setup menu. Good luck! :D

I have the same problem with the black bars on my wife's computer and her 4850 running a dell 2410 over HDMI. It says its running at 1920x1080 but has the stupid black bars. It is definitely an issue with ATI's drivers over HDMI since I could run the same setup on my system without any issue and the monitor isn't exactly configurable. Works fine using DVI as well.

I had the same problems with that card when it was in my HTPC as well hooked up to our 50" Panasonic in the living room. I didn't see the scaling options menu either (why should any scaling need to be done for native resolution anyways?). It definitely seems like an ATI driver issue, but going to give that a try.

edit - Wow, finally found the scaling option that is well hidden in 10.2. On the display configuration screen you need to click on the small display icon at the bottom not the big one in the center. Dumb Dumb Dumb design and it defaults to -8% or so underscan even.

Thanks darkpaw that solved it. I do not get why ATI would default the stupid drivers to scale down then make 2 seemingly identical ways to get to something but have them go to different config pages. This why I am sorry I bought an ATI card. They are just ahead in performance right now and I needed a single slot card but I have problems either finding out what I need to do or doing it at all on with at least 1 thing on every ATI card I have. I guess nVidia is just worth the extra money if only for the driver support.
 
yep it's pretty ninja, I always forget to include saying that you have to right click the small display icon to see "Configure" not the big desktop one >_<
