You guys have to check out the video of Panasonic’s 150” plasma on display at CES. This thing has an extremely impressive 4096 x 2160 resolution, features 50% less power use via double luminance efficiency and no doubt costs more than you make in a year. Hit the link for a video and tons of pictures of this thing in action.

Panasonic finally dropped the curtain on their 150-inch Lifescreen Plasma, and its a beauty. Panasonic did a good job of keeping the TV under wraps until now. Once the curtain dropped, the photographers flocked and the plasma was drowned in flashes.

wonder what kind of re-enforcement the walls would need to hang that damn thing.

Or wondering if we can get rid of any heating since the panel will generate a bit of heat

I'll hook two of these babies up in horizontal span on my computer, maybe play some counter-strike across the two. :D

alas another practical product! This changes everything!

P.S. Why would photographers need to use flash taking a pic of a huge ass plasma?

I remember my fist 20" CRT. Seemed like nothing would ever be better than that...

I wouldn't be suprised if that type screen will be in my house within the next 15yrs.

(Certainly wouldn't let anyone play Wii in front of that!)

Wanted to edit but not allowed?

Anyway... That screen would be the size of sixteen 37 inch monitors!!! I have a 37 Westy and have been trying to imagine that.

Sorry, I have to ask what the point is? At that resolution, it's going to be a lot more economical to get a Rear or Front DLP. DLP is a better technology anyway. ;) You could probably buy 100 extra bulbs for it and it'd still be cheaper in the long-run than a 150" Plasma. :p

I agree. Just doesn't seem practical to me.

Shipping kills the deal for me. No thx OP

PS: Its the most beautiful thing in the world

DLP is a better technology anyway.

Thats kinda like saying apples are better than oranges. Each has its pros and cons.

All the rear projection screens i've seen are crap compared to a decent front projector with a good screen material.

I don't think anybody should be jealous because of the 150" plasma. Its not like anybody you will ever meet (or hear about) in your lifetime will have one. And whoever does get one, more than likely, doesn't know shit about the technology (rich spoiled stereotype).

The RMA talk made me think... How do you get that into your house?

And if you did need it fixed I think you'd have to fly a specialist in and have it fixed at your house.

I don't think you can fit it in your house, or my house, or many others houses...

Heh, if you're able to afford that set should it ever hit the market you can probably afford to have the appropriate sized hole/slot cut into the side of your house to get it in there. That thing is rediculous but I think I would pay a few bucks just to see it in action. Geez, a 150" plasma. Now it's huge and I'm sure it's got the latest and greatest if not yet to be released tech in that thing, but how well does it all come together? How good is the picture on that thing?

My home theater screen is 160" and I use a 1080P projector....the results are amazing...and the whole setup is less than $3k (even cheaper now as projector prices continue to drop).

I know people may think having a screen that big (LCD, Plasma or Projection) may be excessive but until you've gamed / watched high-def content on it....you really don't know what you are missing.

Having said that, having a TV that costs as much as a condo is retarded. ;)

Its called fill flash. If they metered the TV then the person and everything else would be dark. The flash will balance out the photo for everything to be exposed properly.

Another problem would be floor support, this thing will weigh quite a lot and may warp your floor over time. The cost of the TV doesn't worry me, it's the cost of operating and using it. Power, heat, supports, rma, burnins, etc.

Dedicated 220V line? I'm sure steel beam reinforcement for the floor and wall would come as part of the installation package right?

I work at the exhibit company that does Panasonic's trade shows....at least for a little while longer - slow season is coming :(

The stage we put it on had to be reinforced from the regular wood I-beams that the stage was originally made of. The 103" by itself weighs around 600lbs, so the 150" and it's tube frame stand is probably around 2000lbs. I'll have to ask the PM on the Panasonic account if he knows what the weight is.

http://www.gp.com/BUILD/product.aspx?pid=1390 <-- I-beams that the stage was reinforced with. Top was 3/4" plywood. Our as-built drawings from the show should be back in another week or so.

I'm sure that if anyone could afford the 150", they could afford an architect to look into what they need done to their house to support it or even get it in the house to begin with.

Next plasma they are going to require 3 Phase Camlok input with MCM-350 cables. :D

The 103" tour that was going around last year started with 3-phase and camlocks, but now the drop is just a 20amp/208volt single phase. The 150" got a 30amp/208volt single phase w/NEMA 6-15 connection.

It's not big enough until you need multiple three phase 415v motor to run the cooling fans.

You dont hang that ON the wall, IT IS the wall!!!
