I sanded all of the old paint off, then put down a coat of primer, then several thin coats of paint (Rustoleum Metallic Blue) until the paint was nice looking... then put on 2 layers of clear coat and rubbed the surface with car wax to make it shine -- Looks good on my case
i sanded and just spray painted it with some pep boys semi gloss black. looks pretty good. i did basically in my backyard so it's far from perfect. i'll prolly redo it eventually.
I sanded mine down to the bare metal. Then I used several coats of grey primer followed by several coats of Super Enamel. Oh and I sanded inbetween each coat with grit paper raning from 600 to 2000. My case isn't that bad looking, but I never did put a finish on it, so the paint is chipping off on a few areas where it gets banged around. Luckily you can't really see it though. Oh and make sure not to rush through it. Mine probably could have turned out a lot better if I had taken my time, but I had a lan in a few days, so I was in a hurry to get it done.
if you go to Home Depot and bring your side panel, they will give you all the proper materials you need from the type of sand paper to use to the type of paint.
