Painting radiators?

I remember hearing from various folks a while back that it was a bad idea to paint radiators?...Is that true?

If so, why would that be? Perhaps the paint would jam up some of the fins and reduce the surface area somewhat? (that would be my first guess) Or is it something else (perhaps something to do with the thermal conductivity of the extra layer of paint?)?...

(Honestly, I'm sick of waiting for a black MCP-220...heh....debating just getting a blue, and painting it if I really don't like it.)

There is no problem with painting a radiator. Just don't fill up the fins with paint

Exactly. You can paint the tanks and sides without affecting performance. You start to loose performance when you fill the fins with paint because you create more restriction to airflow.

TIP: You can paint the tips of the fins lightly, just spray at an angle.

My blue MCR-220-QP is on it's way to arrive on Wednesday... :)

We'll see if I want to keep it blue...hehe.
