Painting or Tinting Plexiglass???

I'm working on a HTPC. Trying to deciede on the case, currently thinking about Plexiglass. But i don't like the look of clear cases.

I'd prefer a really dark tint on the plexiglass, so the case looked almost black, but when LEDs light up from inside you could see through a bit. If that won't work i'll just paint it. I know they have "smoked" plexiglass but i already have some thats clear, plus i'd like it darker than that smoked stuff.

So my questions, what type of tint would i use? Would automotive tint work on plexiglass/acrylic? If i was going to paint it, any suggestions on painting plexiglass? Will plastic/vinyl die work?
