painting aluminum

I've seen various guides here and on the net on painting steel case. I'm wondering if these guides can apply to aluminum cases as well. the alumunum has been anodised (not sure if hard or soft) but there are scratches so I want to paint it. I am hoping for a mirror finish.

I'll be using a setch-etching primer and then glossy black and then clear lacquer.

Should be fine, but I'd scrape off some of that anodizing first with a good sand-down...

220 grit sandpaper and above.
