ok i wanted to paint the inside and outside of my case. wat things do i need to do this, wat kinda of paint? spraypaint? can a harddrive and dvd writer with out short curcuiting them?
 
DONT paint a HD.

You can paint a CD rom drive if you REMOVE THE SHELL. Painting it with the shell on is just ASKING for trouble.


What you need... Sandpaper in 300,400,800 grit denominations.

A spray can of Self Etching Primer. Get White primer for light colours (yellow, orange, light blue) or gray primer for dark colours (dark green, navy blue, black.) This is the hardest stuff to find... Look at Car stores.

Some spray cans of your favorite metal paint. Whatever colour you like. Stuff by Krylon, or any car paint (better) works wonders.

Some good Car Clear Coat. DONT skimp on the clear coat. Clear coating has a huge impact on how good your final finish is.



Paint with Primer first.

The with the 400 grit sandpaper sand the primer down till it's totally smooth. More primer. More sanding. YOu want about 2-3 coats of primer, making sure that the surface is totally smooth. Normally spraypaint will leave a spackle or orange peel effect, so be careful of that.

Then use colour coat. Light dustings of paint, letting it dry inbetween. DONT paint the entire thing first... It should take about 10 coats for the piece to get fully covered.

Let that dry for at least 3 days, or overnight in an oven at it's lowest setting. Using the 800 grit sandpaper, sand it FLAT. be careful not to sand TOO MUCH off. You only want it flat.

Clear coat. 2-20 coats of clear coat (applied the same way as colour coat) and sand down the last one with some rubbing compound if you want a glossy finish.
