Hi, i am currently in the process of repainting my case. I am going to paint the cage with Enamel paint. I didn't know which sort of paint to use for the side panels and front bezel. Also what brands are good?

Thanks :D

plastic, metal? need more details. and there are some good posts about painting here.

Well basically the side panels are metal along with the top, Obviously i will need to primer those first. The front bezel is plastic. Thanks :D

Make a trip to a hardware store near you, a Lowes', Ace's, Home Depot, whatever. Visit their paint section and check out the different brands of spray paints. Often the cheapest paint has a generic of store-brand label on it. Avoid those. Go for a real brand name. Many users try RustOleum or Krylon. If there's a more expensive "Premium" spray paint available and you really care about the quality of your paint job, go with that. Enjoy!

I heard on another forum that PPG automotive paint also comes in a spray can....Thats the best paint out there and if you can find it in a can....Have at it...Its sure to be spendy though.

You want expensive spray paint? Check these guys out, specifically their Killer Cans:

Awesome paints, crazy expensive. $40 per can? ;)

rustoleum or krylon are good for metal. krylon fusion is good for plastic. you could have a hard time matching colors if you want to paint the whole case the same color. I have used Plastikote paint with great success. They make a self etch primer for metal, and a flexible primer for plastic. Then you could use the same spray can for the whole case.

arcy has some great posts, and you can go on bill owen's website and read his tutorial. really helpful

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but what kind of paint is used on regular cases? It seems to have a really fine texture, so just wondering if there's any home solutions to this type of finish?

Some cases are anodized then painted, giving them a special feel. That may be what you're thinking of.

Any particular type of paint? I was thinking of just matt black straight over the stock paint. (after sanding it a bit ;))

Depends on what kind of finish you want. Mirror, flat, etc..

Always go with a brand name paint, not the store brand. Don't be cheap. :p

another good brand of spraypaint is duplicolor. it has a nozzle that sprays in a fan shap which gives much better coats.

multiple thin coats are much better than a couple of thick coats.

Just a quick note: I've only been able to find Duplicolor at automotive stores (Napa, Advance/Discount Auto Parts, etc.). Home-improvement/hardware stores just don't carry them. Just today I finally found Duplicolor etching primer at Advance. Around $6 a can. :)

I just want the sort of look that normal black computer cases have. for the plastic i am not quite sure, maybe some sort of enamel look?. Also i am not too sure what sort of paint to use on the inside cage.

for the chassis, I always use cheap .99 spray paint from home depot. sure its cheap, but it does the job. Just sand and wash well, dry then prime it, then paint 3-4 thin coats. I let it dry overnight, then put some newspaper in my car trunk and put it in there for a week. I live in s. florida though, so my trunk is a mini oven. I also try to drive extra careful when the chassis is in the trunk. So far, none of the paint has rubbed off. I used to put cases in my attic to dry, but recently I've discovered that flying ants like to live in pc chassis that are curing in the attic, so I avoid that now. O and for the small parts, ie the hd cage, etc, I bake those in the oven at 180 for 1 hour after the 2nd coat, and 1.5 hours after the 3rd coat.
