Paint question

id do some sanding first, remove any paint thats on there now, or any type of clear coat type stuff. but once all thats off and the surface is smooth again it should be good to go
 
It will as long as your dye/paint will bond with plastic. If not you may have to get some steel wool and scratch the surface of it to make it stick.
 
what kind of sand paper should i use so that it still stays smooth
 
I would suggest going to a hobby shop. You can get very fine paper there. You can also get sponge-type sanders.

Basically the finer the sand grit the better if you want to keep it looking smooth.
 
Sand all the grey paint off with 200g sand paper first.

Then sand the entire thing smooth with 400g sand paper.

You can get both of these from any hardware store.

Then spray it in thin light coats with the dye.
