Painkiller problems?

I have a 6800nu and for some reason I get major screen corruption in Painkiller. The loading screen(s) flicker with artifacts and the game freezes in the (also corrupted) menu if left alone. Nothing in my system is overclocked, but I do have an extra vertex shader unlocked. Every single other game I've tried so far has worked (Half Life 2 works flawlessly for hours, as does Doom 3, Far Cry, and Battlefield 2). I updated Painkiller to version 1.64 (the latest) and still, same problems. The temps dont seem abnormal, and nothing weird happening to the clock speeds and temperatures. I have the latest final drivers (77.72). What gives? Do I have a bad card or does Painkiller no longer like my sistem? It used to work like 2 weeks ago, and nothing changed between then and now.

I hope you plan to pass this game with a dual analog controller or else it's just another point and click breezer.

Roflmao. Breezer? I find painkiller to be quite challenging with a mouse. Most people here put mouse before analog controller bub... ;)

Try that beta driver, sounds like you have a software/driver issue right now if all other games play great. Also, make sure you have the latest chipset drivers.

Thanks, seems to work mostly fine (if you skip quickly through the last loading screen before it starts glitching). Weird. Now the colors are messed up in GTA: San Andreas though. Everything is brighter the shadows are weird in some places  Everything is normal in though in Doom 3 and Painkiller (as far as I can see)

GTA:SA is a fine example of how not to code a game.

You may want to try running driver cleaner and then installing the new drivers to see if it helps.

Well, thanks for your help. That didnt do the trick but the shadow problems are no big deal either way.
